Just about a day to go for Michael T. Desing's Stalwart '85 Kickstarter!

Mini-ethical dilemma today: I honestly feel a bit strange posting anything too...eh, hopeful and...I dunno, frivolous...on 9/11.  But y'know, if I wait till tomorrow, the clock will be almost at zero on this.  And I do want to share it...and you can't really deny the American connection here.  Today is a day to celebrate heroes!

So...just reminding you to make sure to get in now if you want to be a part of Dr. Michael T. Desing's Stalwart '85 Kickstarter!  Mike (may I call you Mike?) has covered a lot of the creation process over at his excellent blog and publishing HQ, The Splintered RealmStalwart '85 looks to be a love letter to 1980s superhero comics, but in a way that imagines a third major publisher (largely using public domain characters) rather than generating a pastiche of '80s stories (which, obviously, I'm also fond of).

The Core Rules are already on DriveThru as a PWYW, so you can check out the basics before buying into it.  The mechanics definitely look solid, although I'm really in it more for the worldbuilding.  The art is familiar but unique.  And Mike, frankly, seems like a good dude.

It's already funded and into stretch goals.  Check it out HERE if you'd like to join me in getting in on the superheroic action!

The D6 2e Kickstarter is coming to a close!

I just have to throw this out there in case it tips anyone off to the existence of this Kickstarter campaign.  It's a little too convenient that funding for a "Second Edition" (in quotes because you could argue that there have already been more than two editions...) of West End Games' D6 System is funding while I'm in the process of getting a D6-based campaign up and running!  Everything about this points toward the view that Gallant Knight Games is putting together a framework that honors the game's legacy while including lessons and technologies learned in the years since West End Games last worked on the system.

You can find the Kickstarter HERE.  It closes late Thursday morning (my time).  I'm in mostly just to see how this new "official" take on one of my favorite systems turns out, but there are a number of campaign and setting extras that may also be the deciding feature for other backers.  And while I want to get my grubby mitts on a hardcover, that $20 digital pledge level that includes the core rules and a bunch of stretch goal additions looks like an especially good deal.  It is, after all, a proven system that could handle just about all of your RPG needs from here to eternity.

One day left on the TMNT RPG kickstarter...!

It seems clear that the campaign isn't in need of a signal boost from a tiny corner of the internet like mine...but it's still probably worth pointing out here that Palladium's Kickstarter for the new edition of their classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Other Strangeness RPG is down to about a day to go.  The effort has blown way, WAY past its $250,000 goal.  I mean, I guess it was obvious that this was gonna be a big one.

I didn't go in as high as I could...or even all that high, I suppose, relative to the pledges that show up on some of these tabletop Kickstarters...but I am pretty sure that this marks the most I've ever committed to a crowdfunded gaming product.  I couldn't resist at least adding on the good guy minis.  Or maybe I just didn't want to resist.

Getting hyped up for this makes me want to revisit some of the Action Anthro stuff I've occasionally touched upon here.  For example...here's a 4d20 table to help create your crime-fighting team.

Or maybe it's time to create a little strike team for S.L.O.P.

Here's one.

His name is Kevin.

...

What?  Oh, no, it's Kevin Bachman.

Yeah, you don't want to make that other joke around Kevin...

Arrow points toward Kevin's badass S.L.O.P. tattoo.  Also, make sure to check out PeterBearFR's DeviantArt page, where I stole that awesome pig solder art from...and of course let me know if my theft is unappreciated and needs to be corrected.

Big ups to my buddy JR!

I really should have posted about this earlier, but I suppose I'm better late than never on it!  My friend and sometime collaborator JR Mounts...writer, artist, and musician extraordinaire, and as I believe I've mentioned on here before, one of the nicest guys you could ever hope to meet...has been nominated for a Dragon Award for his semiautobiocomic Stuck in My Head.  This is the second year that these will be given out at Dragon Con, the absolute giant of the local convention scene, and I think it is absolutely awesome to see such a labor of love by an indie artist like JR alongside names like Clive Barker, Jim Butcher, and Phil and Kaja Foglio!

If you're so inclined, I don't think it's even too late to register and vote in this and all the other categories...!

If I may point out a Kickstarter...

I don't think this is really a shameless plug, as I'm not connected to the project.  It's probably worth mentioning, though, that JR is my bud, and I've worked with him on a couple of card games and have some other projects in the works with him.

He's just started a Kickstarter for his indie semiautobiocomic magnum opus, STUCK IN MY HEAD (click here to check it out).

If you're a fan of indie comics, personal stories, or cool people, give it a look!  JR's a great guy with a fanstastic style and some killer stories to tell.  I'm looking forward to this one!
